We connect LGBTQ+ families with attorneys and fertility specialists all over the US and Canada to make it easy to start, expand, and protect your family.
Our experts are all selected for their knowledge, advocacy, and compassion, so you can feel comfortable starting these – sometimes challenging – conversations in a welcoming, judgment-free environment.
We also provide you with a dynamic, ever-growing library of resources, interviews, and blogs to help you understand and navigate these complicated and important topics.
Being a member of the LGBTQ+ community comes with enough hurdles – keeping your family together and safe shouldn’t be one of them.
Simply put, we serve you if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community and/or if you want to work with attorneys and experts who are inclusive, kind, and committed to advocacy and equality. Your sexual orientation, sexual identity, gender, race, or family structure should never stand between you and your family’s foundation and rights.
We help connect you with experts who can assist with:
- Fertility – Beginning or continuing your fertility/IVF journey
- Surrogacy – Finding the best agency to create your family
- Wills – Creating a will to protect your children or partner(s) in the event of an emergency
- Adoption – Navigating adoption law and finding the right resources for your family structure
- Healthcare Proxy – Creating a healthcare proxy to make your healthcare decisions if you are unable to
- Power of Attorney – Establishing a power of attorney who can take over your financial decisions if necessary
- Trans Issues – Navigating your transition and trans pregnancy
I’m Gena Jaffe (she / her), founder of connecting rainbows. My wife, Jordana, and I have two children conceived via Reciprocal IVF (her bun, my oven) and we went through the second parent adoption process (fun fact: being on the birth certificate isn’t enough – we have a blog post on that).
I’ve been an entrepreneur for many years and while I’m a lawyer, I don’t specialize in family or fertility law.
The whole process we went through opened my eyes to a whole new world and a huge need for the LGBTQ+ community: lawyers and fertility experts who get and understand exactly what it is you need.
I’m talking using the right pronouns, not assuming there is a husband or a father when it’s a lesbian couple.
And let me tell you – it can be hard to find a lawyer who gets you. Who is compassionate, down to earth and knowledgeable – especially when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community. And that’s where this idea came from. A website that includes a database of attorneys who specialize in fertility, adoption, wills and everything in between to ensure that you and your family are protected and together.
Yes, there are other resources and directories out there, but none as personal as this one. I am personally speaking with every single attorney that I include on this list. I don’t receive a referral fee or commission, so my sole mission is to find someone that I know will take the best care of you.
AND when it comes to growing your family – it takes a village.
I found an incredible community on Instagram where I was able to connect with other families going to RIVF. I felt like I was part of something sacred. It can be scary going through this process alone – so we have an ever-growing blog featuring real LGBTQ+ families who share their coming out stories, fertility, pregnancy + parenting experiences so you can feel connected as well.
We also include a directory of fertility clinics (that are recommended as LGBTQ+ friendly), surrogacy agencies and sperm banks to complete the package! Additionally, we will be offering transgender resources and information to help assist you on that journey.
I am honored to run this incredible endeavor but I am certainly not the face of it – we all are. Our community is so incredibly loving, supportive and generous. And I am so grateful to provide these resources.
Nobody can predict the future, but connecting rainbows can provide the support and expert resources you need to weather any storm.
